Keeping Kids Healthy

Airs Tuesdays at 12:30pm
KEEPING KIDS HEALTHY is an innovative 13-part series designed to provide parents and caregivers of children with the knowledge and support they need to make well-informed decisions about their child's health. The series is moderated by Winnie King, M.D.(pictured), a practicing board-certified emergency room physician and an engaging and experienced television host. Medical issues are introduced by both medical specialists and the parents and children who are living with them. Each half-hour episode of covers one or two health care issues drawn from a broad range of topics, including physical issues such as disease, nutrition and fitness, but also psycho-social issues such as behavior, safety and emotional well-being. Segments address topics ranging from heart defects, breastfeeding, teens on kidney dialysis and the obesity/diabetes connection, to teen suicide, behavioral limits and disaster preparedness for children. Special segments, such as "Mom's Coping Tips" and "Resource Lists" direct viewers to relevant books, organizations, Web sites and phone numbers and provide community members with additional information.
